A Dorian mode tune in D. The melody was published by Playford in<br> The English Dancing Master from the 1st edition (1651) through the<br> 10th edition (1698). Williamson suggests the title might refer to a<br> nightcap or last drink prior to retiring, otherwise he believes the<br> composer would have referred to the Scottish head-gear as a bonnet.<br> It was also printed in Karpeles & Schofield's A Selection of 100<br> English Folk Dance Airs (1951) and Sharp's Country Dance Tunes (1909).<br> It was recorded on The English Country Dancing Master by The Telemann<br> Society and Legacy of the Scottish Harpers by Robin Williamson.<br>
