"Mr. Lane's Trumpet Minuet" is an English minuet in 3/4 time and C Major. The parts are played AABB. The tune is asymmetrical having 8 measures in the A part and 14 measures in the B part. The earliest minuet form consisted of 8 bars repeated in each part. Later versions like this extended the second part to 12, 14, 16 or more bars.
The tune, by Mr. Lane, dancing master to Charles II, was first published in Henry Playford's Dancing Master Part II, supplement to the 9th edition (1696). It was retained in the long-running Dancing Master series through the 18th and final edition of 1728, then published by John Young, heir to the Playford publishing concerns.

It was also printed in Barlow's Complete Country Dance Tunes from Playford's Dancing Master (1985).
