"Mr. Lane's Trumpet Minuet" is an English minuet in 3/4 time and C Major.<br> The parts are played AABB. The tune is asymmetrical having 8 measures in the A part<br> and 14 measures in the B part. The earliest minuet form consisted of 8 bars repeated<br> in each part. Later versions like this extended the second part to 12, 14, 16 or<br> more bars.<br> The tune, by Mr. Lane, dancing master to Charles II, was first published in Henry<br> Playford's Dancing Master Part II, supplement to the 9th edition (1696). It was<br> retained in the long-running Dancing Master series through the 18th and final<br> edition of 1728, then published by John Young, heir to the Playford publishing<br> concerns.
