Loftus Jones was the son of Thomas and Susanna Jones, of Ardnaglass,<br> County Sligo. O'Carolan's biographer O’Sullivan reasons that the tune<br> must have been composed toward the end of O’Carolan’s career, as Loftus<br> must have been a young man at the the time of the bard’s death.<br> I learned this from Abby Newton's album "Crossing to Scotland".<br>
