"Weevily Wheat" is Gordon Bok's take on a traditional song usually known as
"Charlie" or "Over the Water to Charlie" with verses about Bonnie Prince
Charlie sometimes mixed with some verses from "Seventeen Come Sunday".
Gordon Bok's notes: "I don't know where I heard this: one of those too-far-back-to-remember songs. I may have seen it in print and made up or borrowed the tune".It was recorded on Gordon's Bok's first self-titled album Gordon's Bok. It is also printed in Gordon Bok's Time and the Flying Snow. |
