"Orleans Baffled" is an English country dance in 3/4 time and D Major.<br> There is one part. The melody and country dance instructions ("Longways for as many as<br> will") appear in all four editions of London publisher John Young's Second Volume of the<br> Dancing Master (1710 to 1728), Walsh & Randall's The New Country Dancing Master,<br> Second Book (1710), Walsh & Hare's Second Book of the Compleat Country Dancing-Master<br> (1719) and son John Walsh's The Compleat Country Dancing-Master, Volume the Sixth (1754).<br> The title perhaps refers to Philippe II (1674-1723), Duke of Orléans, a member<br> of the French royal family.<br> It was printed in Barnes' English Country Dance Tunes (1986) and<br> Sharp's Country Dance Tunes (1909).<br> It was recorded by The Telemann Society Orchestra on The English Country Dancing Master<br> (2012).<br>
