"Mother Brown's Cat" is an English country dance tune in cut time and D major.<br> The parts are played AAB.<br> Barlow shows a repeat in the B part and this version follows Barlow.<br> It first appeared in the 11th edition of Playford's Dancing Master (1701) and was<br> continued through the 18th and final edition of 1728.<br> The dance instructions "Longways for as many as will" describe a line dance.<br> It was printed in<br> Barlow's Complete Country Dance Tunes from Playford's Dancing Master (1985).<br>
