"The Ladies Maggot" is an English country dance tune in 6/4 time and G major. The parts are played AABB. It first appeared in the 11th edition of Playford's Dancing Master (1701) and was continued through the 18th and final edition of 1728. The dance instructions "Longways for as many as will" describe a line dance. It was also printed in Barlow's Complete Country Dances from Playford's Dancing Master (1985).
