Also known as "Advice to the Ladies", "London Ladies".<br> The air appears in Playford's The Dancing Master (beginning with the<br> second supplement to the 7th edition of 1688, and every<br> edition thereafter, through the 18th and final of 1728)<br> and his Apollo's Banquet (1690), Thomas D'Urfey's<br> Pills to Purge Melancholy (1719 and all subsequent editions)<br> and "many of the ballad operas" (Chappell). It was included by<br> Walsh & Hare in The Compleat Country Dancing Master (1718)<br> and in later editions of that work in 1731 and 1754.<br> It was also printed in Chappell's Popular Music of the Olden<br> Time, vol. 2 (1859).<br> <br>
