The tune was first published in 1651 in The English Dancing Master.<br> This particular melody was retained in the series through the 8th<br> edition of 1690. However, there were other melodies that Playford<br> published under the title "Jenny Pluck Pears", which was the name<br> of a flirting dance for three couples. <br> It was also printed in Karpeles & Schofield's A Selection of 100 English<br> Folk Dance Airs (1951) and Sharp's Country Dance Tunes (1909).<br> It was recorded on The English Country Dancing Master by The Telemann<br> Society, Country Capers by The New York Renaissance Band and<br> A Trip to Kilburn by The Baltimore Consort.<br>
