Also known as "Hyde Park".<br> The tune was published by Playford in the first edition of<br> The English Dancing Master (1651) was retained through the 18th and<br> final edition of 1728. It also appears in all three editions of<br> Walsh's The Compleat Country Dancing Master (1718, 1731, 1754).<br> It was probably an alternative tune to "The Hide Park Frolic" in<br> Pills to Purge Melancholy, vol. IV. The "Irish Trot" usually<br> referred to a dance, however, to which various tunes might be played.<br> Despite its origins in the 17th century, it appears that in America<br> the dance was not introduced in some areas until the late 19th century. <br> It was also printed in Sharp's Country Dance Tunes (1909),<br> Stanford/Petrie's Complete Collection (1905) and Walsh's Complete<br> Country Dancing-Master(1740).<br>
