"Glastenbury" is an English country dance in cut time and A major.
I don't know why the title is given as "Glastenbury" instead of the standard
"Glastonbury". The only "Glastenbury" I can find is a ghost town in Vermont but that
wasn't chartered until 1761, some 48 years before the publication of the tune.
It does not appear in Playford's Dancing Master series but was printed by John Young
who published the last six editions of The Dancing Master. He printed this tune in
The Second Volume of The Dancing Master in 1713. To confuse things a bit, Young's
Second Edition and the subsequent Third Edition were separate from editions 13 - 18
of the original Dancing Master series.
It was also printed in Barlow's Complete Country Dance Tunes from Playford's Dancing
Master (1985).
