"George's Maggot" is an English country dance tune and jig in 6/4 time and G Minor.<br> The parts are played AABB. The parts are not symetric: the A part is 8 measures long and the B part<br> is 12 measures.<br> The melody was first printed in Henry Playford's Dancing Master, 11th edition (1701).<br> It was retained through the 18th and last, printed in<br> London by John Young. The tune and dance were also printed by Walsh & Hare in their The Compleat<br> Country Dancing Master (1718).<br> It was also printed in Barlow's The Complete Country Dance Tunes from Playford's Dancing Master (1985).<br>
