"Forty Miles from Georgetown Without Any Whiskey" is an American reel in C.
It was composed by Gary Harrison.
Harrison's fiddle version is easy to play, using only the 2nd and 3rd fingers.
The banjo tablature is by John Letscher. His comment:
Great title and a tune not nearly as dire as the title
would indicate. From the playing of Gary Harrison.
This tune brings to mind "Crook Brothers Tune".
It was recorded by
Chirps Smith on Illinois Old Time Fiddler (2008) and
Indian Creek Delta Boys on Indian Creek Delta Boys (1976, 2005)
It was printed in Lamancusa's The Gettysburg Collection of Old-Time Fiddle Tunes (2021).
