"Redeeming Love" is a Shaker hymn in G and 4/4 time.
It was printed in Shaker Music: Original Inspirational Hymns and Songs Illustrative of the Resurrection Life and Testimony of the Shakers, published in New York in 1884. It was composed by Eldress Mary Ann Gillespie (1829 - 1887) of the Shaker Maine Ministry at the community at Alfred, Maine.
The song was originally printed in the Shaker's "letteral" music notation which shares some characteristics with ABC notation but, originating as a handwritten system, is more graphic and requires lines above the letters to designate duration.
It was also printed in Wertkin's The Four Seasons of Shaker Life (1986).
