"I will Arise" is a popular old hymn. The poem was published by Joseph Hart in 1759. The refrain probably originated in a camp meeting song. The melody shares phrases with several other hymns. A secular song in the same form is "The Bird Song" found in Sharp's English Folk-Songs from the Southern Appalachians.
This was recorded by the Golden Ring singers on their original Folk-Legacy album The Golden Ring with altered words.
The melody is also known as "Restoration" which is usually used for the "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" lyric by Robert Robinson (1735 - 1790).
It was printed in Jackson's Spiritual Folk-Songs of Early America (1937).
