There is a different tune named "Consolation" in The Sacred Harp which was composed by Annie Denson Aaron in 1935. Two tunes named "Consolation" appear in The Repository of Sacred Music Part Second. This tune is printed on page 20 but only the first verse is printed. The second tune is also in A minor but in 6/8 time. There are seven verses printed but they are completely different from the Watts lyrics. The tune is used In The Lutheran Book of Worship (#33) for the lyric “The King shall come …”. It is used for this lyric in 87 different hymnals. |
