"Tideswell Morris Processional" is an English Morris Dance tune in cut time and
F Major. The parts are played AB.
Tideswell is a village of Buxton in Derbyshire between Manchester and Sheffield.
English folk song and folk-dance collector Cecil Sharp had the tune from
Mr. R.F.B. Hodgkinson (b. 1876), a Nottinghamshire antiquarian, who sent it
along with the morris tune for Taddington village, near Tideswell.
Later, in 1910, Sharp visited the morris events in the towns and re-collected
the tunes.
It was printed in Karpeles & Schofield's A Selection of 100 English Folk Dance
Airs (1951),
Raven's English Country Dance Tunes (1984) and
Sharp's Morris Book 1, 2nd ed. (1912).
