"Boyne Water" is an English sword dance known in New England as a polka. It is set in G Major. The parts are played ABCD in Karpeles and Raven and AABB in Miller & Perron. There was a military march of this name used in the British army in the Revolutionary War period, though it was probably an unrelated tune.
It is the fourth figure in the sword dance from the village of Sleights, England, near Whitby in Yorkshire.
It was printed in Karpeles & Schofield's A Selection of 100 English Folk Dance Airs (1951), Miller & Perron's New England Fiddler's Repertoire (1983) and Raven's English Country Dance Tunes (1984).
